Case Study: Warner Brothers
Security Direct has worked with Warner Bros on a large Blockbuster movie set. We are asked to work with the production team on fitting steel roller shutters and retractable security grilles to a film set of an old town. They wanted the shutters and grilles fitted on the outside of buildings to look old and industrial. Some of the products are operation and some are fixed to look like the real thing. They got their special effects team to work on the products, to age them and make them look old. The grilles and shutters and been transformed from bright new products too old rusty products that look around 20 years old, in only a few days. It was incredible what they can do. It was a very interesting and exciting project and look forward to seeing the final result when the film is released. We look forward to working with the production team again on future production sets.

Case Study: Holland and Barrett
Holland & Barrett stores were getting broken into on a regular basis. Criminals were breaking the Shop Front windows and stealing the display stock, which is usually expensive Protein powders. SOLUTION:- On most sites we use our Perforated Vision Retail Roller Shutters , as they are Secure and Cost Effective. The perforated laths allow customers to view the shop displays when the store is closed, but protects the displays. We have fitted Perforated Roller Shutters across the entrance to Costa Coffee Shops located in Shopping Centres. The purpose of the roller shutter is to close the restaurant off to the public, when the restaurant is closed but the shopping centre is open. Costa wanted a product that is secure, but must have Vision through the security shutters as it’s a shopping centre requirement. Perforated Laths are used as the Police and Fire Service can see through the shutter if required. Case Study: Aerosuperbatics Cirencester
Aerosuperbatics in Cirencester wanted a secure solution to keep their planes secure but also protected from the weather. They opted for Roller Shutters and these were fitted across the aircraft hanger and benefited from 100mm Insulated Steel Laths. This product was the only suitable solution due to the opening being over 11m wide. Roller shutters can be a good option for this kind of venue due to being wind resistant. Our wind resistant roller shutter doors can prevent damage by withstanding gale force winds of up to 100mph. In addition to the security and wind resistant features, the ‘wind lock end caps’ help eliminate rattle, minimising annoying noise – and have the added benefit of enhancing security by protecting the sides of the lath.

Case Study: BAE Systems
Security Direct has worked with the Main Contractor on a BAE Systems facility. The main contractor was refurbishing a manufacturing facility, which had to be done to strict MOD requirements. This was a very high security site, so security was paramount. The product was required to protect windows, vent spaces and void spaces underneath the floors. The product specified was the Maximum Security Roller Shutters - LPS1175 Security Level 4. The SR4 bar grilles were manufactured to suit individual openings. The vertical bars are manufactured using 32mm vertical solid steel bars, at approx 112mm gaps. These are welded into a 50mm x 50mm x 5mm thick angle frame. There are then 44mm x 8mm thick flat horizontal steel tie bars every 112mm. These grilles weigh approx 80kgs per m2. Due to some of the sizes of the opening, the grilles had to be manufactured in 2 sections and bolted together on site. BAE Systems were very happy with the products and have specified the product on similar projects for the future.

Case Study: Rolls Royce
Rolls Royce is one of the most prestigious Manufacturing companies in the world. Other than manufacturing prestigious cars, they specialise in Engines for the Aerospace and Submarine industry. Security Direct have worked with on one of their main sites in Derby. They approached us to help them resolve a few issues on site. The first issue was the staff canteen which required a roller shutter to close off the food preparation area when the kitchen was closed. We installed the Perforated Steel - 18% Vision, as it provided a good level of security, but allowed airflow and visibility through the shutter. We have also supplied our Trackless Retractable Barrier for inside the factory. The 2m high barriers were used to cordon off areas within areas of the factory. Although the site was high security, they also used the barriers across the loading bays, to restrict access to unauthorised personnel through open loading bay doors.
