Why use the Window Security Bars?

The Window Security Bars are a popular, cost effective way of securing a window. They can be fitted externally or for a higher level of security can be fitted internally. We manufacture every grille to suit the application and security risk. For Internal Domestic windows, we suggest a 12mm round bar, as it's not too heavy and prison like. For External use, we recommend a minimum of 16mm bars and for commercial and higher levels of security, we suggest 20mm round bars. We have a range of frame options, depending on the fixing requirements. We also have the option of standoff legs, so the bar grille stand off the wall and allows the windows to still open.

The Window Security Bars are generally face fixed or reveal fixed to the brickwork. We can make the grilles hinge open, like a security gate. This is ideal for Maintenance, Access or Fire Escape.

The Window Security Bars come Powder Coated White, Brown, Black or Cream as standard. The grilles can be Powder Coated any BS or RAL colour to match your colour scheme at an additional cost. For external installation, we recommend they are Hot Dipped Galvanised and they powder coated for a long term rust protection.

Information

Infill

The infill uses a 12 mm, 16 mm or 20 mm Round Solid Steel bar which is welded to either fixing brackets or to a frame. Intermediate Tie Bars are welded when over 1200 mm in height or higher risk applications.

Standard Duty - 12mm Round Bar Infill - Recommended for Internal Domestic and Low Risk Applications.

Intermediate Duty - 16mm Round Bar Infill - Minimum thickness for External Installations

Heavy Duty - 20mm Round Bar Infill - Ideal for High Security Applications and is usually specified by Insurance companies as the minimum requirement for commercial properties.

Frame
The Window Bars come as standard with a Box Section frame, other types of frame are available on request.

BOX SECTION - The Bar grille is supplied as standard in a fully welded Box Section frame. The size of the box section will depend on the Diameter of the infill bars. The bars are welded into the frame, providing a very
strong bar grille. The advantage of the box section is that the fixings can be concealed inside the box section profile, making it a neater and more secure than the other frame types.

FLAT BAR FRAME
- the vertical bars are welded into a full frame which is manufactured from Flat Steel Bar. The flat bar frame is ideal when face fixing onto a wall or back of a door.

ANGLE FRAME - the vertical bars are welded into a full frame which is made from Angle Iron. Angle frame is often used in warehouses, where aesthetics are not important.

Options

FIXED - The Bar grille is supplied as standard as a Fixed Panel. On larger sizes the grille maybe supplied in sections and required bolting together on site.

Hinged - There is the option of having the Bar Grille as a Hinged Gate. Ideal for emergency escape, where access is required or for maintenance and cleaning.

Lift Out - There is the option of having the grille lift out and lockable if required. This is only available on small openings.
