Warranty Policy
Last Updated: 3 July 2026
1. Overview
At Security Direct Products Ltd, we are committed to supplying high-quality products that are manufactured to recognised industry standards.
Many of our products are supplied with a manufacturer's warranty and, where applicable, additional warranty support from Security Direct.
This Warranty Policy explains what is covered, what is excluded and how to make a warranty claim.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
2. Warranty Period
Warranty periods vary depending on the product purchased.
The applicable warranty period will normally be stated on:
- Your quotation
- Order confirmation
- Product page
- Product documentation
- Manufacturer's documentation
Unless otherwise stated in writing, the warranty begins from the date of delivery or installation (where installation is carried out by Security Direct).
3. What Is Covered?
Subject to the terms of this policy, warranties generally cover defects resulting from:
- Faulty materials
- Manufacturing defects
- Defective workmanship
- Manufacturing assembly faults
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, Security Direct may, at its discretion:
-
Repair the product
-
Replace the defective component
- Supply an equivalent replacement product
- Refund the affected product where appropriate
The remedy offered will depend upon the nature of the fault and product availability.
4. What Is Not Covered?
The warranty does not normally cover defects or damage caused by:
- Incorrect installation by others
- Improper use
- Misuse or abuse
- Accidental damage
- Vandalism
- Attempted repairs by unauthorised persons
- Lack of routine maintenance
- Failure to follow operating instructions
- Normal wear and tear
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect product performance
- Power surges or electrical supply problems
- Fire, flood, storms or other events outside our control
- Corrosion caused by unsuitable environments where the product specification was not intended for such conditions
5. Bespoke Products
As many of our products are manufactured specifically to customer requirements, the warranty covers manufacturing defects only.
The warranty does not cover:
- Incorrect customer measurements
- Incorrect specifications approved by the customer
- Design changes requested after manufacture
- Products manufactured exactly to customer instructions that later prove unsuitable
6. Powder Coated Finishes
Powder coated finishes are manufactured to recognised industry standards.
Minor colour variations, changes in gloss level or slight differences between production batches may occur and do not constitute manufacturing defects.
Damage caused after delivery, including scratches, impact damage or chemical cleaning products, is not covered by warranty.
7. Electrical Components
Electrical items including:
- Motors
- Control panels
- Safety devices
- Receivers
- Transmitters
- Key switches
- Sensors
must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and all applicable electrical regulations.
Damage caused by incorrect wiring, power supply issues, water ingress, unauthorised modification or misuse is not covered.
8. Installation by Others
Where products are supplied for installation by third parties, Security Direct cannot accept responsibility for faults arising from incorrect installation.
Any warranty claim relating to installation workmanship should be directed to the installing contractor.
9. Maintenance
Many products require periodic inspection and maintenance to ensure continued safe operation.
Failure to carry out appropriate maintenance may invalidate the warranty where the fault has arisen because reasonable maintenance has not been undertaken.
Customers should follow any maintenance guidance supplied with the product.
10. Commercial Use
Unless otherwise stated, our products are designed for normal use within the application for which they were supplied.
Excessive use, misuse or operation outside the intended application may invalidate the warranty.
11. Making a Warranty Claim
If you believe your product has developed a fault covered by warranty, please contact our Sales Team as soon as reasonably possible.
To help us investigate your claim, please provide:
- Your order number or invoice number
- Product details
- A description of the fault
- Photographs or videos where appropriate
- The installation address
- The date the issue was first identified
Additional information may be requested where necessary.
12. Inspection
In some cases, Security Direct or the manufacturer may need to inspect the product before agreeing a warranty claim.
Products should not be dismantled, modified or repaired without prior authorisation, as this may invalidate the warranty.
13. Labour & Associated Costs
Unless specifically stated in writing, warranties cover the repair or replacement of defective products or components only.
The following may not be included:
- Removal costs
- Reinstallation costs
- Access equipment
- Scaffolding
- Cherry pickers
- Loss of earnings
- Loss of business
- Consequential losses
Where Security Direct originally carried out the installation, we will advise what labour, if any, is covered under the applicable warranty.
14. Replacement Parts
Where replacement parts are supplied under warranty, the remaining warranty period for the original product will continue to apply unless otherwise agreed in writing.
15. Transfer of Warranty
Unless otherwise agreed, warranties apply to the original purchaser and are not automatically transferable to subsequent owners.
16. Your Statutory Rights
This Warranty Policy is provided in addition to your statutory rights.
Nothing contained within this policy limits or excludes any rights available to consumers under applicable UK law.
