Installation Policy

1. Overview
Security Direct Products Ltd provides professional installation services for a wide range of security and fire protection products throughout the United Kingdom.
This Installation Policy explains what is included within our installation service, your responsibilities before our engineers arrive and what to expect during and after installation.
2. Installation Service
Where installation has been purchased, our experienced engineers will install the products specified on your quotation or order confirmation.
Installation will be carried out in accordance with current industry standards and the manufacturer's recommendations.
Any work outside the agreed scope may be subject to additional charges.
3. Booking Your Installation
Once your products have been manufactured and are ready for installation, our team will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient installation date.
Whilst we will always try to accommodate preferred dates, these cannot be guaranteed and are subject to engineer availability.
4. Site Readiness
Before our engineers arrive, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure:
- The installation area is clear and accessible.
- Any existing equipment that is not included within our quotation has been removed.
- Building works affecting the installation area have been completed.
- Suitable structural openings are ready.
- Electrical supplies are available where required.
- Adequate lighting is available.
- Safe working conditions are maintained.
If the site is not ready when our engineers arrive, additional charges may apply.
5. Access Requirements
Customers are responsible for ensuring safe access to the installation location.
Please advise us in advance of any access restrictions, including:
- Narrow roads
- Height restrictions
- Parking restrictions
- Security procedures
- Restricted working hours
- Lift access
- Site induction requirements
Failure to advise us may result in delays or additional charges.
6. Utilities
Where electrical products are being installed, suitable electrical supplies must be available unless our quotation specifically includes electrical works.
Where additional electrical work is required beyond the agreed quotation, additional charges may apply.
7. Existing Products
Unless specifically included within our quotation, the removal and disposal of existing doors, shutters or equipment is not included.
Where removal has been agreed, customers should ensure existing equipment is disconnected and safe to remove unless otherwise specified.
8. Delays
If installation cannot proceed due to circumstances outside Security Direct's control, including:
- incomplete building works,
- restricted access,
- unavailable site contacts,
- unsafe working conditions,
- lack of electrical supplies,
- customer-requested postponements,
we reserve the right to charge reasonable costs incurred, including additional labour, travel, accommodation, storage or return visit charges.
9. Customer Requested Changes
Any changes requested after manufacture or during installation may affect:
- Product specification
- Installation time
- Delivery dates
- Final cost
Where possible, we will provide a quotation for any additional work before proceeding.
10. Working Hours
Unless otherwise agreed, installations are carried out during normal business hours.
Weekend, evening or out-of-hours installations may be available by prior arrangement and may incur additional charges.
11. Health & Safety
Our engineers work in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
We reserve the right to postpone or suspend work where conditions are considered unsafe.
Customers must ensure the installation area remains safe throughout the installation process.
12. Completion of Installation
Following completion, our engineers will:
- Check the product operates correctly.
- Carry out basic operational testing where applicable.
- Demonstrate the operation of the product where practical.
- Leave the installation area in a reasonably clean and tidy condition.
Customers should inspect the installation before the engineers leave site wherever possible.
13. Customer Responsibilities After Installation
Following installation, customers should:
- Operate the product in accordance with the supplied instructions.
- Carry out routine inspections and maintenance where applicable.
- Arrange periodic servicing where recommended.
- Report any faults promptly.
Failure to maintain products correctly may affect warranty cover.
14. Additional Works
Our quotation covers only the work specifically described.
Unless stated otherwise, our installation service does not include:
- Building alterations
- Structural steelwork
- Decorating
- Making good
- Electrical upgrades
- Internet or network connections
- Fire alarm integration
- Specialist lifting equipment
- Scaffolding
These services can often be arranged separately upon request.
15. Delayed Installations
Where manufactured products are ready but installation is delayed at the customer's request, Security Direct reserves the right to:
- Invoice for completed products.
- Apply reasonable storage charges.
- Rearrange installation subject to engineer availability.
16. Warranty
Where Security Direct carries out the installation, the installation workmanship is covered in accordance with our Warranty Policy.
This does not affect the manufacturer's warranty applicable to the products supplied.
